Boost Engagement Through Storytelling - Matthew Dicks

Could storytelling be the X factor for your success?

Tell me the facts and I’ll learn.

Tell me the truth and I’ll believe.

But tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever.

If we want people to remember us and our projects. Storytelling surely could be a key to that success. After all, who wouldn't want their work to live in the hearts of their audience?

Whether we realize it or not, we are always telling stories. On a first date, an Instagram post, or with family or friends, we are constantly narrating events and interpreting emotions and actions. It is how we communicate as humans. That is why storytelling is so important for sharing your work and projects. But how do we tell a story about a project and how will that way of communicating engage and inspire an audience?

My guest today is Matthew Dicks. 5x Moth Grand Slam Storytelling Champion. Author of 7 novels and the book with possibly the longest title in the world Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, And Change Your Life Through - The Power Of Storytelling.

A book that has unlocked the code for me on how to connect with an audience.

In today’s show Matthew walks us through how we can tell a compelling story.

We then discuss the don’t of storytelling and ways to generate story ideas using a tool he calls Homework for life.

To finish Matthew deconstruct one of my latest project video (oh god) so you can learn from my example what to do and more importantly what not to do.

This show is jammed packed with actionable advice so please get ready to take notes.

Here is the free downloadable PDF of my Story Check List Format. Hope this helps you to be able to tell more affective stories. Good luck and happy storytelling .
